Use of Illustration
This manually illustrated poster trio is dedicated to retro action movie lovers. The main focus was to portray the famous action figures of the 80s and 90s. Supposedly, the poster collection is a souvenir piece for retro movie fans. Several drawing methods have been applied to the visual executions, such as watercolor, acrylic, and pencils. In addition, color enhancement, typography, and digital backgrounds worked out in Photoshop. Iconic photos of retro action, retro epic, and retro sci-fi were used as references while illustrating. Rambo, Terminator, Cobra, Braveheart, Troy, Matrix, Witch Hunter, and Blade are the movies recalled in this poster trio.
Retro Action Poster
The first poster out of the three recalled the retro action movies. Iconic photographs of Rambo, Cobra, and Terminator were used as references during the illustration process. Watercolor is used over "Canson" paper to draw the unity of portraits. Color enhancement and typography were done in Photoshop.
Retro Sci-fi Poster
The second poster captures the movie heroes of “The Last Witch Hunter,” “Matrix,” and “Blade” movies. Three leading figures were drawn using pencils. The slow layering of the shades brings a realistic look. Background, Sepia tone, and typographic elements were digital inputs of Photoshop.
Retro Epic Poster
Colored pencils, pencils, and watercolors were collectively used to draw the third poster of the collection. Acrylic was mixed with watercolor to bring the contrast of yellow. Two portraits and an action figure were illustrated to create the poster. Dedicated to the lovers of the epic movies “Braveheart” and “Troy.”
